Tensions are high between two AI heavyweights, after a sleep over play-date between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and OpenAI chief Sam Altman ended in tears and slammed bedroom doors.
According to sources close to the situation (namely Sam’s mom), the evening started fine with snacks, juice boxes, and a Minecraft session. The tension started during a pillow-fort building session, when Altman said that Satya’s forts aren’t big enough for the both of them. But things turned ill when Altman pulled out his prized Transformers collection and wouldn’t share. When Nadella reached out to play with one, Altman snatched it back, saying “No! You always break things!”. Visibly hurt and tearing up, Satya sobbed “Where’s my driver? I want to go home!”.
This was also after a long day at the waterpark, with both boys very tired and cranky.
The next day at school, Altman was seen having lunch with Google CEO Sundar Pichai, where he declared Google “is my new best friend”. Meanwhile, Nadella was seen playing Roblox alone during recess, and sending an angry text to his mom demanding the firing of 9000 employees.
Negotiations between the parents for a follow up sleepover are stalled, with Satya’s mom saying “I think the kids just need a little break from each other right now.”
