Microsoft has announced a new flexible license model for its M365 Copilot product, called RIF As You Go (RIFAYGO), which should greatly accelerate Copilot adoption by Microsoft’s enterprise customers.
“For every employee who successfully automates away their own job using Copilot, your organization will receive bonus Copilot message credits. The more employees you RIF, the more you save. It’s efficiency that pays for itself.” the company said in a press release.
Installation is simple, according to the official documentation portal: Create a Microsoft 365 Group in Entra ID with all your employees in it. As users are disabled or deactivated, the bonus credits are instantly recycled back into the tenant, automatically offsetting the costs of “Pay As You Go” (PAYGO) plans and regular license cost increases. During the account de-activation process, just specify the Bot ID of the agent that eliminated the role , and the credits flow back to the tenant pool.
Executive VP of AI Mustafa Suleyman explained:
“We believe RIFAYGO gives customers the agility to balance AI adoption with right-sizing their human workforce. Coming in H2, we’re adding advanced Power BI dashboards with exciting KPIs like RIFs per Month, Cumulative RIFs Over Time, and the Impact to Tenure Ratio. These reports will empower leaders to align their AI roadmap with headcount reduction targets.”
