During the keynote of this year’s Build 2025 conference, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella demonstrated a new agent, called RTRiF, that enables organizations to perform Real Time Reductions in Force.
While on stage with Scott Hanselman, Vice President of Developer Community efforts, the screen showed the two engaging in a normal Teams chat session. With a sly grin, Satya then @mentioned Scott and the new agent in a new post, typing “@RTRif, @ScottHanselman, you’re fired!”
Immediately on Scott’s machine a number of Microsoft 365 login screens popped up, showing that he was instantly logged out of all Microsoft properties. When attempting to write Satya back with a response, another login prompt appeared, with a message that said “You can’t get there from here”.
Looking stunned and slightly dejected, Scott walked off the stage, to instant raucous applause from the attendees.
“Incredible!” shouted Satya over the attendee roars. “Our multi-agent capability built into the RTRiF bot instantly automated all aspects of the termination, from account disablement to payroll suspension, to even sending out automated letters from our attorneys reminding the former employee of their non-disclosure agreement.”
The feature is in Early Private Preview he said, and is scheduled to roll out to tenants in public preview in late H1 of Microsoft’s fiscal year.
