Relaxing at an all inclusive resort in Cancun, Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althoff is enjoying his recently announced 8 week sabbatical with a surprising new friend, US Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. The leave was announced just one day before the mass firing of 9000 employees, or over 4% of Microsoft’s workforce. Speaking to reporters, Judson said: “I was on leave to avoid the mass layoffs, and he was on leave to avoid the flash floods, and we ran into each other and realized we had a lot in common.”
The two families got along so well together, that they insisted they will spend all of their vacations in the future, assuming timing of disasters works in their favor.
When asked how the time off has been, Althoff responded: “It’s been great, really. This is some much, much needed R&R before getting back in the swing of things and preparing for the next round of layoffs.”
